As we've reported, a DVD release of
The Tudors - The Complete 2nd Season is coming to the USA from Showtime and Paramount Home Entertainment on
December 30th. As with the first season set, though, Canadians will get a DVD release a bit sooner when Peace Arch Entertainment releases
The Tudors - The Complete 2nd Season: Uncut Edition on
November 11th. But this time, the Canadians aren't stopping at standard-def....and fans of this show who live in the States can benefit! How? Keep reading.
On the same date,
November 11th, Peace Arch will also release high-definition editions of both
The Tudors - The Complete 1st Season: Uncut Edition on Blu-ray and
The Tudors - The Complete 2nd Season: Uncut Edition on Blu-ray. These versions will come with 3 discs per package, costing CA$84.99 each as a list price. Season 2 will have English only, while Season 1 will have both English and French tracks.
The DVD version of
The Complete 2nd Season: Uncut Edition will cost a bit less at CA$74.99 SRP, and like the Blu-ray release will be English only. When the
Uncut Edition of the first season was released on DVD in Canada last year, it was also English-only. On Nov. 11th Peach Arch will re-promote the first season with
a new bilingual version, which adds a French track as well. It also will cost CA$74.99 SRP. The DVD releases are on four discs per season.
Each of these four releases are presented in widescreen, with the Blu-ray versions in high definition. Audio is listed as "5.1 Surround Sound" for all four versions, both on DVD and Blu-ray. Running time is 570 minutes for the first season, and 541 minutes for the second (each season contains 10 episodes). Bonus material will be included on each, but we haven't received the details on that yet. The original
Season 1: Uncut release in Canada had extras such as Cast & Crew Interviews, Deleted Scenes, Bloopers, and Promo Reels; we expect that to continue to be present on the new first season releases, and similar material to be available on the second.
Whether we're talking about DVD's "Region 1" or Blu-ray Disc's "Region A", releases in the USA will work in all standard Canadian players, and all Canada-only releases will play just fine in any standard store-bought player from within the States. Therefore, USA residents who want those Blu-ray Disc releases (like yours truly!) can use their Amazon.com accounts to order these at the link below, they'll work just fine in any standard Blu-ray Disc player purchased in the USA.
You can just let your credit card handle the exchange rate from Canadian dollars to US dollars, and if you need to figure out what the cost is in US funds before you buy, then just Google up a currency converter and let it tell you want the current exchange rate is. As of this writing, the two Blu-ray Disc season sets can be pre-ordered from Amazon.ca for CA$59.49 each, which - at this moment, mind you - converts to $57.32 each in USA dollars (plus shipping charges). Of course, the exchange rate changes every day, and Amazon.ca may change discounted pricing at their own discretion, and without notice. So I've locked in my copies already...have you?
