The other day we
posted a story about how the Sept. 25th release date for
One Tree Hill - The Complete 4th Season was spotted by one of our readers at e-tailer TLAVideo.com, and was later confirmed by the studio to be accurate. Since the studio made that confirmation, they have given the matter more thought, and changed their minds.
Late yesterday, TVShowsOnDVD founder Gord Lacey was told by an exec at Warner Home Video that they had revised their date, and it would not be out in September. The main factor which prompted the change is The CW's
press release stating that "
'One Tree Hill' will return next midseason."
As you know, most current on-air shows will see a DVD release of the just-completed season a few weeks prior to the beginning of the upcoming new season. Experience has shown the studios and the networks that this is the best way to cross-promote the DVD street date and the season premiere, and catch the most number of people when they've got the show in mind. Since the network has decided that the fifth season won't debut until the early 2008 timeframe, it makes sense for Warner to hold off on the 4th Season DVD set until the very end of 2007, or the beginning of 2008.
We realize that this will be a disappointment to many of you, but don't forget: the set's still coming. Warner's just moved the announcement back a few months. They don't have an exact new date yet, and probably won't right away. But stay tuned, and we'll bring you that new date, just as soon as the studio finalizes their new release plans.
