It's been almost two years since Rhino released
Transformers: Armada - Season 1, Part 1, with the first 26 episodes of the 52-episode run of the 2002 series. Now they finish off the series, with a
September 26th release of
Transformers: Armada - Season 1, Part 2.
In this thrilling conclusion to the hit TV series TRANSFORMERS ARMADA, Optimus Prime, his Autobots, and their human friends step up the fight against Megatron and his Decepticons for control of the powerful Mini-Cons. Valor, betrayal, redemption, and some devastating twists fill these intense stories, leading to the unholy alliance between the natural enemies in the face of a genuine evil known as Unicron. The action comes fast and furious in this unforgettable chapter of the Transformers saga.
Transformers: Armada - Season 1, Part 2 will feature 26 episodes, uncut and presented in chronological order, running about 600 minutes. 16 of these episodes have never before been released on DVD. There will also be an extra called "Interactive Transformations - animations that put you in control!" The cost on this will be $49.95 SRP. While Rhino hasn't shown off the cover art yet, they describe it as "highly collectible packaging."
The show only lasted a single season on the Cartoon Network, but was enjoyed by fans and featured a climactic battle between the leaders of the Autobot and Decepticon forces, which took place inside Unicron (sound familiar? But it's not what you think!). Fans of
Beast Wars/Beast Machines will happily recognize the voice of David Kaye returning as Megatron. Another
Beast Wars voice cast member, Don Brown ("Scorponok"), joined
Armada as "Cyclonus," and continued as that character into the next series,
Energon, which was a direct sequel to
Armada. Since Paramount/Hasbro owns the DVD rights to
Energon, we'll have to look to that studio for possible season sets to pick up where
Armada will leave off. Will Paramount do it? With the new live-action
Transformers film (starring Peter Cullen's voice as "Optimus Prime" and
Even Stevens' Shia LaBeouf as "Spike") coming next Fourth of July, anything is possible! Stay tuned.
