This past June saw the DVD release of
Transformers: Animated - Transform and Roll Out!, the original triple-sized introductory story, followed quickly in August by the follow-up release of
Transformers: Animated - Season 1. A number of fans were a bit miffed that there were separated, because in their minds it was all one big season. For those of you who haven't picked these up yet, you'll be glad to know that Habro and Paramount Home Entertainment is putting them together in a new bundle. It will be out on
January 6th, the same day as the recently-announced
Transformers: Animated - Season 2 release.
But we mainly need to clear up that these are only going to be the same two separate packages, bundled together in shrinkwrap and with no new packaging or content. If you already have these (we do here in my own home), then there's no compelling reason to repurchase these. If you don't have them yet, then it's a good way to pick both up at the same time. Here at TSoD, we don't usually report on this sort of bundle (it's really just a marketing technique), but considering the sheer amount of fans who have expressed interest in such a release, and considering the confusion that we felt will be generated by whether there is new packaging or content on the release announcement this morning, we thought we ought to post something in this particular case.
Studio-provided package art pictures have NOT been released for this, but they did give descriptions that verify that these are bundled together either "back to back" or "side-by-side". We've taken existing pictures into Photoshop and simulated the look below, so you can easily understand the difference in how they will shrinkwrap them together. Expect the studio to add a "belly band" or sticker or something else to label these as a being bundled together. Pricing was not provided with the initial announcement this morning.
