This past Spring we first got word that
Toxic Crusaders: The Television Series was coming to DVD in a box set. Then, a few months later, came
this word from Troma that the box set was delayed, but that a different release would take its place until they could put the set out in 2005.
Now we have new word from Troma that they've decided to hold off on the box set, and go with more affordable single-disc releases, and with the street dates spread out a bit. The first one,
Toxic Crusaders: The Television Series - Volume 1: Episodes 1-4, hits on
Jan. 25th and has a price of $19.95 MSRP. Here's the synopsis:
The Toxic Crusaders wage an ongoing battle against crime, corruption and chemical waste. In order to save Tromaville and the rest of the planet, the Toxic Crusaders must thwart the plans of the evil Dr. Killemoff, a mutant pollutant from the planet Smogula, and his hoardes of heinous henchmen.
Relive the first four exciting episodes of Toxic Crusaders, including footage never before seen on DVD! It's clean-up time!
DVD Extras will be on this disc! Look for these:
- Introduction by Uncle Lloydie (Lloyd Kaufman, President of Troma and Creator of the series)
- The Original Doggie Tales "Swim, Swim, Swim (Do the Doggie Paddle)" music video
- Bonus cartoon: "Christmas Comes But Once A Year"
- Bonus cartoon: "Brightest Night"
- And much more!
Cool stuff! Thanks to reader Eddie Brock for his help with finding out about this release. And this is just the first release of three; I wonder what extras they come up with for the other two? Here's the cover art, front and back:
