Several weeks ago we
reported that
Torchwood - Children of Earth would be coming to DVD and high-def Blu-ray Disc formats later this year, and that the distributor had briefly circulated a release date of September 15th. We passed along word at the time, though, from BBC Video saying not to count on that date...nothing had been finalized yet. And that it wouldn't until the BBC America broadcast date for that 5-part mini-series had been announced.
Now it's become official that
the broadcasts start July 20th, and so word came through today that BBC Video and Warner Home Video will release the home videos the following week, on
July 28th. The standard DVD format version will cost $29.98 SRP, and the high-definition Blu-ray Disc version will list at $34.99 SRP. Each is confirmed to be 2 discs, running approximately 300 minutes long. Bonus material consists of a "
Torchwood Declassified: Behind the Scenes" featurette. We also have a
new online trailer to view, plus we have a look at the packaging for you!
We've also found out that the Blu-ray Disc release of
Torchwood - The Complete 2nd Series, which was
previously scheduled for July 7th, has been moved back to
July 28th so it can come out on the same day as the
Children of Earth set. It also ties both items in with the San Diego Comic Con, being held right around that time.
