A few days ago we
had the exclusive story revealing the DVD release date for the Sci-Fi Channel's recent mini-series
Tin Man. This new, modern interpretation of L. Frank Baum's
Wizard of Oz novel stars Zooey Deschanel (
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy), Richard Dreyfuss (
Close Encounters of the Third Kind), Neal McDonough (
Star Trek: First Contact), Alan Cumming (
X-Men 2), Raoul Trujillo (
Apocalypto) and Kathleen Robertson (
Beverly Hills, 90210). Displaced waitress "DG" (Deschanel) journeys along the yellow brick road through the Outer Zone ("O.Z.") on her way to the Mystic Man (Dreyfuss), in the hopes of finding a way home. Her friends met along the way (McDonough's
Tin Man "Cain", Cumming's "Glitch", and Trujillo's "Raw") help her, while they are pursued by the sorceress Azkadellia (Robertson).
Yesterday the folks at RHI and Genius Entertainment released more information about this
March 11th release. We now know this is a 2-DVD set, running 264 minutes and costing $24.95 SRP. They say that this will be "
loaded with bonus features, including 30+ minute 'Making Of' Featurette, 10-minutes beyond the brick road exclusively for DVD, cast interviews, gag reels, and MORE!" The collectible "o-ring" packaging has not been shown yet, but stay tuned because we're using our hearts, brains and courage to track it down. Here is the official studio description of this release:
