Court TV's Til Death Do Us Part (also known under its original Canadian series name " Love You to Death") is coming to DVD on June 17th, courtesy of BCI Eclipse. This anthology series stars John Waters (writer, producer, director and actor of films such as Pink Flamingos, the original 1988 Hairspray starring Ricki Lake, and more!) as "The Groom Reaper". The show is " inspired by true crimes involving married couples whose once wedded bliss ends in murder...[and] the stories in this series are based on real court cases, but all names and locations are fictional; characters and events have been invented or combined for dramatic purposes".
Box art and extras, if any, aren't available yet, because BCI is still working on this release. While the folks there are finalizing all the details, they've sent us the heads-up scoop which includes a lot of material describing the program itself:
Get out the confetti, the wedding cake and the hearse. John Waters (Hairspray, Serial Mom, Pink Flamingos) stars as the "Groom Reaper" in Love You To Death, the 13-episode, half-hour, anthology series features stories inspired by true crimes involving married couples whose once wedded bliss ends in murder (Note: the stories in this series are based on real court cases, but all names and locations are fictional; characters and events have been invented or combined for dramatic purposes).
As the "Groom Reaper," Waters - who is starring in a drama series for the first time - acts as a time-traveler who guides the viewer through bizarre tales and incredible cases. Each episode begins at the apex in each couples' relationship - in which the "Groom Reaper" makes his first eerie appearance - that subsequently leads to the mystery of who will commit the murder. The story slowly unfolds throughout the episode, ably assisted by the "Groom Reaper's" observations, until the finale when he makes his re-appearance and offers closure...until the next wedding!
