It's been last July
since we last spoke about A&E's
Thunderbirds - 40th Anniversary Collector's Edition Megaset. At the time we passed on info from the studio that the delayed title would be available in September. However, it never did show up on that date, either, and A&E's been quiet about the new release date...until now.
New information from the studio, confirmed in trade journal
Home Media Magazine and at
Amazon's listing, shows a
January 15th release date for this long-awaited set. Details of the contents, including extras, don't seem to have changed since the originally announced plans. Official list price seems to have jumped a bit, though, from $99.95 SRP as shown in the past, to $129.95 SRP. Amazon's current pre-order price is $90.99, though.
You can order it directly from A&E and get it shipped on Dec. 19th, at a slightly higher cost than Amazon's. There at the studio site, the disc count is said to be "12" in the text, in multiple places. But the box art shown there at A&E's store says "13" discs, instead. We called A&E's online store and asked if they knew what the correct disc count was. They're not sure, but suspect that the thirteenth disc - if there is one - might be just to hold the bonus materials. They didn't have any actual product yet, however, to look at and verify either way. Enough info in various places says "12," though, that we're going with this number until we can prove otherwise. Our thanks to reader Rich Holy for tipping us off about the new info.
