A few days ago we received an e-mail from one of our readers, Jim Wynorski, and we are grateful. Not because he began by saying how he "always appreciated our site" (well, we're grateful for that, too!), but because of the news he sent us. Here are his own words:
Within the last week I was contacted regarding the much wanted black and white TV show, Thriller, hosted by Boris Karloff. Apparently this will be issued as a complete set (2 seasons, 67 shows) sometime early next year. Although most of the participants from the show are now deceased, they are using the month of October to put together commentary tracks for some episodes. These will feature actors from the show as well as comtemporary (sic) directors and entertainment personalities who were influenced by this milestone horror program.
When ever we receive e-mails like this, our first impulse is to research and confirm the info, while in the meantime we guard the identity of the person this info ultimately came from that may be connected with the project, in case they may get in trouble with the studio for leaking the word to somebody, who in turn leaked it to us. However, when the same info "goes public", then of course it's silly of us to continue to guard any secrecy. Although we're still working to independently confirm the info, Jim Wynorski decided to post the same info - with additional details - earlier today in a public forum. In fact, it was our own TVShowsonDVD fan page at Facebook. Here are
the new comments Jim posted there:
Jim Wynorski - My friend Steve Mitchell, who was responsible for all the extras and commentaries on the five seasons of COMBAT on dvd, is currently working on a box set of Boris Karloff's Thriller. They will issue both seasons together as one brick - 67 episodes from recent up-dated masters. One of my favorite shows finally makes it to disc.
Great to hear, and we hope to bring you confirmation on this just as soon as possible. Sometimes that happens quickly, but sometimes that can take days, weeks or even months. We'll update you as soon as we're able to, though, so stay tuned! Thanks again to Jim for being so candid with his info.
