Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has suprised us this morning with the anouncement that both seasons of That's My Mama - starring Theresa Merritt ("Aunt Em" in The Wiz) and Clifton Davis ("Rev. Reuben Gregory" in Amen) - will each be available to buy separately on DVD starting on August 23rd. The half-hour sitcom ran on ABC each Wednesday night in 1974 and 1975.
That's My Mama - The Complete 1st Season is a 3-DVD set running 624 minutes with 26 episodes. Guest stars included Gordon Jump and Tim Reid, who each would end up a few years later on WKRP in Cincinnati. Price is $29.95 SRP.
The Complete 2nd Season is also, mysteriously, $29.95 SRP, even though it is a 2-DVD set with only 13 episodes, running just 312 minutes. We suppose we can thank Sony for bringing us a 3-DVD set as cheaply as they bring us a 2-DVD set! Well, that's one way to look at it, anyway.
