Last week we
passed on to our readers last week, Lionsgate is planning an August release of
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Season 5, in the "Original Classic Style" (a.k.a., the '80s version of the cartoon). At the time all we had was the month, and a small look at the packaging, made to resemble a pizza box. And why not? Pizza is the fave food of our heroes, of course!
Now readers like Dan Hernandez (thanks guys!) have let us know that retailers are posting a specific release date, plus other info about this set. Retailers like
DVDEmpire.com, who show that the 414-minute set will go for $24.98 SRP, but they're selling it for $18.89 at the moment. Here's the description they have:
Dishing up Season 5 in 3 hot DVDs! Dudes! Your order for hot and fresh kung-fu adventures is ready. In 18 wicked episodes from the original series, Leonardo, Michaelangelo, Raphael, and Donatello deliver totally radical mutant action right to your door - and all the tasty extras you want are included. Cowabunga! Any way you slice it, their way of saving the day is gnarly.
What's the release date? We've seen both the 14th and the 7th, but we're going to go with one of our affiliate partners, DVDEmpire, on this and call it as probably being
August 7th. Why? Because that's the same day that Warner will be releasing the recent
TMNT film on DVD, HD-DVD and Blu-ray. Don't see that announced anywhere? Well, we get sneak peek info on films too from time to time! To prove what we say, here's a look at the packaging for the film, in all three formats. Below that is a larger look at the
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Season 5 front cover, so you can see it in more detail. If anything changes, or if we're amiss on the dates, we'll let you know.
