This morning's new issue (May 21st cover date) of the
Video Business trade magazine has a story about upcoming kid-oriented releases. While the majority of it was stuff that TVShowsOnDVD has already told you about, there was one item that stood out as "new info" to us!
The story talks about how the kid-oriented releases of licensed product can be turned and aimed at adults who grew up watching these cartoons, and wraps by saying:
"Lionsgate has done the same with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series from the '80s. In August, Lionsgate will release season five as a three-disc set packaged inside a pizza-style box, which is designed to appeal to the franchise's audience of males ages 18-34.
Okay, I'll admit to being a little bit older than that age range...except that I also have to admit that it still works on me! Well, I won't buy this because it's in a pizza-style box. I'll buy it because it's classic
Turtles, and my son and I can sit down together and really enjoy these. Heck, I'd enjoy these even is he didn't. I'm sure many of you feel the same! Here's the box art, scanned (in low-res; sorry) from the
Video Business article:
