Hot on the heels of the
toy news we posted earlier today, and with the
Volume 7 and
Volume 8 DVDs releasing just last Tuesday (3/16), we have news for you now about the 9th and 10th DVD volumes of the 2003
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series.
Volume 9: Turtles in Space will be released on May 4th, according to multiple sources (Amazon.com says May 18th, however).
Volume 10: Secret Origins will be released separately, a month later. Look for it on June 8th.
Amazon has a nice, large shot up of the 10th volume, while the only art we found for the 9th was a tiny shot at DVDEmpire. Here they are:
Each one lists for $16.98. To pre-order them immediately, click on the below links (and help support our site in the process):

According to DVDPlanet, the 9th Volume will contain the first 4 of the 5-part "Turtles In Space" saga that kicked off the second season of the new show: Episode 27: "The Fugitoid", Episode 28: "The Trouble with Triceratons", Episode 29: "The Big House", and Episode 30: "The Arena".
If that's true, then the "Turtles in Space" saga will conclude on
Volume 10: Secret Origins, with Episode 31: "Triceraton Wars", before launching into the 3-part "Secret Origins" saga. And what's that one all about? According to the episode description at
the official TMNT website:
Back from their adventures in space, the Turtles find themselves in the headquarters of the same aliens who teleported them across the universe! The discovery of an old friend and new allies leads to a trip back through time and a major revelation about their origin! Can things get any weirder? Knowing the Turtles, the answer is... definitely!
It sounds like there's a lot of continuity between the two sagas, so Funimation may consider this a logical way to split them up. We'll find out when the official info from the publisher comes across. Either way, we hope that they keep the opening narration and "previously on" recaps intact on these new volumes. On the 7th and 8th volumes that came out last week, these were missing from 3 of the episodes across those two releases. We've gotten a lot of complaints about this, starting with "Derek P." and turning into an avalanche from there. The folks at
TheTechnodrome.com fansite mentioned this oversight, too. We'll join the rest of the fans in hoping that this gets corrected in the future, and we intend to communicate with Funimation privately about the matter. Hopefully they'll get the message. In the meantime, we don't intend to let these small issues spoil our enjoyment of this rousing revival of the classic show.
