Swamp Thing had a short run as an animated show back in the early 90's, starting not too long after the live-action Dick Durock/Kari Wuhrer-starring series was put on the air. The animated series was executive produced by none other than Andy Heyward, creator of
Inspector Gadget and the man behind DiC Entertainment. It was based on the Kenner line of toys released at the time, and reportedly only lasted for 5 episodes: "The UN-Men Unleashed," "To Live Forever," "Falling Red Star," "Legend of the Lost Cavern," and "Experiment in Terror."
Now DiC and distributor UAVCO are set to release a DVD containing all 5 episodes of the show.
August 31st is the release date for
Swamp Thing - Guardian of the Earth, just in time for UAVCO to promote it as part of their "Animation Station" Halloween line-up. Here's the box art:
