Last month we
posted a rumor that Universal's
Swamp Thing live-action series, starring Dick Durock (who played the big green guy in the box office feature) and with Kari Wuhrer appearing as "Abigail", had been licensed to Shout! Factory for a DVD release in early 2008. We asked Shout! Factory for a confirmation and update about this, and we've gotten a response from DVD Producer Brian Ward.
Brian divulges to us that "Swamp Thing is coming along, slowly but surely." He is working on the set and making progress, though. He confirms our previous report that this will have the episodes in the order that they were originally intended to be seen in, since USA Network aired a few of the episodes out-of-order ("which wreaked havoc on certain points of continuity", as Brian so colorfully - and correctly! - puts it). He reveals that the set, reportedly 4 discs, will contain both the first and second season of the show.
Brian loves to make sure extras are always included on all his DVD projects, and at the top of his wish list for
Swamp Thing would be getting an interview with star Dick Durock. Brian tells us he's spoken to Dick "via a wonderful telephone conversation", but that they haven't locked anything down just yet.
