Since this past May we've been getting e-mails from readers about how mega e-tailer Amazon.com has "Sign Up to be Notified"
listings for six different season set titles of the popular reality show,
Survivor. At the time we checked in with our contact at Amazon's CreateSpace MOD (manufacture-on-demand) program, which is how CBS DVD is releasing this program now. Back there in the spring, we were told that even though all six of the listings had some sort of early package art, none of the titles were scheduled for release at the time. So we've held off on posting news for any of them.
Something has changed now, though, because the folks at
Entertainment Weekly have
posted an article today saying that 2 of those titles are now scheduled for release through CreateSpace next month, in
September. Those are the fifth season that aired in 2002,
Survivor: Thailand, and the sixth season that aired in 2003,
Survivor: The Amazon.
Neither of these are up for pre-order yet, but the
EW write-up says to expect Amazon.com to begin accepting advance purchases later this week. They also explain that "
Extras for each set will include featurettes on the cast and location, as well as exit and Early Show interviews with ousted contestants, and a sizzle reel of highlights." Our thanks to reader Joshua Spaulding for the heads-up about this info; please visit the
