Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains, the 20th installment of the groundbreaking series reunites some of the most memorable, heroic and controversial castaways from previous SURVIVOR seasons. February-May 2010 saw one of the most popular seasons yet of the acclaimed reality show with "
Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains," and CBS Home Entertainment apparently feels that fans that collect DVDs for the show probably won't mind skipping ahead to this recent season! We say "apparently," because we're just guessing at the motives since Amazon has begun showing a listing for this title on
DVD! Like other recent home video
Survivor sets (namely
Season 3: Africa and
Season 4: Marquesas), this is marked to be a manufacture-on-demand (MOD) release from Amazon's CreateSpace team. However, the listing is NOT accepting pre-orders as of this writing; the most you can do with Amazon's entry is "
Sign up to be notified when this item becomes available." However, it looks pretty sure that a release is coming, because the listing does show the following list of Bonus Material, which had to have come from the studio:
- MEET THE CONTESTANTS: Jenna Morasca speaks with cast members about their thoughts and strategies on returning to play this special season of Survivor.
- SURVIVOR 10TH ANNIVERSARY PARTY: Celebrates 10 years of Survivor broadcasts and reunites castaways from previous Survivor seasons.
- TRIBAL COUNCIL: Jeff Probst gives a tour of this season's Tribal Council and talks about the effect of tribal council and his role as the host over the course of 10 years.
- SEASON PREVIEW: A look at how the Heroes vs. Villains concept and cast were selected.
- PONDEROSA DRAGON MUSIC VIDEO: A music video created by several contestants inspired by life at the Ponderosa.
- EXIT INTERVIEWS: The contestants' exit interviews immediately after they are voted out of the tribe.
- PONDEROSA Webisodes: features the experiences of the last 9 contestants after they are voted off the tribe, sequestered, and join the jury.
What did NOT come from the studio, however, is one of the "cover art" pictures that is currently showing at Amazon's entry. You can tell which one it is, because when the picture is displayed it says this is a "customer image," and names the Amazon user who loaded it. The other picture, however, isn't marked that way, so we can only assume it's a legit piece of cover art provided by CBS. However, it's possibly not finalized, since there's not subtitle showing yet in the black field at the bottom:
Marquesas's cover says "Deluxe Set" there, but
Africa's cover is also blank. So this picture may change, or it may not. But in the meantime we've got the current image for you below, along with a button link to Amazon's entry. There are no other details available at this time. Pricing looks like it will be $34.95 (it's not displayed at the entry itself, but if you hover over the Amazon button link below then you'll see it). UPDATE: Less than a half hour after our story went up, Amazon began accepting pre-orders for "
Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains" at the listing we provide a link to. As we said above, cost is $34.95. And, expected, this is an MOD title (which Amazon shows by noting it is a "DVD-R"). We were also informed of a wrong spelling on the word "Villains" and have corrected it; our thanks to the readers who rushed to fill us on on both counts! No ship date is provided yet, but stay tuned for that.
