Yesterday we brought you Warner Home Video's
announcement about the
November 25th release of
Superman - Doomsday: Special Edition on a 2-DVD set, but we noted that there was no Blu-ray Disc version announced at the same time. We had been expecting one, per reports out of the San Diego Comic Con last month, and were confused when we didn't get it!
Since then Warner has followed up with a detailed e-announcement, which reveals that there will indeed be a high-def Blu-ray Disc version of
Superman - Doomsday: Special Edition coming out, day-and-date with the new DVD version. The Blu-format release will cost $29.99 SRP, just five dollars more than the DVD's $24.98 list price. Both releases will also share the same list of bonus material:
- Audio Commentary by Producer Bruce Timm, Writer Duane Capizzi, Voice Director Andrea Romano and Executive Producer Gregory Noveck
- 4 Bonus Episodes from Superman: The Animated Series, selected by Bruce Timm (NEW to the Special Edition)
- Documentary: "Requiem and Rebirth: Superman Lives!" - About how the DC Comics team decided Superman's fate
- Featurette: "Behind the Voice"
- Featurette: "When Heroes Die: The Making of Superman: Doomsday" (NEW to the Special Edition)
- Featurette: "Clash of the Juggernauts" (NEW to the Special Edition)
- Sneak Peek at DC Universe's Justice League: The New Frontier
- Sneak Peek at DC Universe's Feb. 2009 release of Wonder Woman (NEW to the Special Edition)
