In the past couple of weeks we've
reported on many of the details about the long-awaited DVD box set of
The Super Mario Brothers Super Show! The folks at Shout! Factory have now issued the official press release, which we have for you below.
To clear up one possible point of confusion: we've verified with Shout! Factory that all 24 episodes of the show WILL contain their live-action segments. One of our readers, Jason Tucke, reminded us how the Legend of Zelda release from last October only had the live-action segments on 5 of the 13 episodes, leaving 8 segments missing-in-action. We've talked to Shout! about those, too, and while they won't be showing up on this March's
Super Mario Brothers Super Show release, the fine folks at Shout! are looking into the possibility of including them on a future release. We don't know yet if they can pull it off (there may have been a darn good reason the segments weren't included!), but stay tuned and we'll let you know. Here's that press release:

Super Mario Brothers Super Show! collector’s DVD box set which includes 24 half-hour episodes of the animated adventures of The Super Mario Bros. from the hit television series. The Super Mario Brothers are a nostalgic cult favorite of fans around the world and the Nintendo video game continues to be popular with kids of every age. The series had every kid in America in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s glued to the television to await the next animated Mushroom Kingdom escapade while the live-action segments explore life with Brooklyn’s best plumbers, Mario and Luigi.
The Super Mario Brothers Super Show! DVD will be available for a suggested retail price of $29.98 (subject to change).
The Super Mario Brothers Super Show! box set includes four DVDs with special features such as brand new interviews with Captain Lou Albano (Mario), as well as an original art gallery for fans to explore. Based on the original hit Nintendo video game, the series connects top-notch animated adventures with unique live-action interstitials starring Albano and Danny Wells as the famed plumbers Mario and Luigi. Additionally, celebrities make regular guest star appearances, including Nicole Eggert, Cyndi Lauper and Magic Johnson.
