Broadcast & Cable, from the same organization which also publishes
Video Business magazine, relays that the FX Cable Network and Fox Home Entertainment are laying plans to release a Direct-to-Video installment of
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The story, written by Alex Weprin (and our thanks go to reader Don Williams for tipping us off to it!), indicates that bonus content might also be included on that DVD, but also states that no specific release date or pricing has been set as of this time.
However, the write-up mentions a Christmas theme for this installment of the comedy series, and an intent to break it up into two broadcast episodes of the show during a future season. So it's reasonable for us to assume we'll see the DVD street date eventually get set up for release sometime in the Late 2009 timeframe. The title would not be Fox's only TV-based Direct-to-DVD release coming this year; they are also working on
Prison Break - The Final Break, a post-series DTV event scheduled to ship on July 21st. We'll have more details on that, and on the
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia DTV release, as additional developments occur. Stay tuned!
