Sue Thomas (Deanne Bray) is a somewhat sheltered young deaf woman who has recently graduated from college and is about to start her first real job - which happens to be with the F.B.I. Disappointed when she is relegated to the tedious task of analyzing fingerprints, Sue doesn't remain there for long. A new acquaintance, F.B.I. agent Jack Hudson (Yannick Bisson) discovers her unique lip-reading ability and enlists her to join the bureau's elite surveillance team. Suddenly Sue and her hearing dog, Levi, are "G-men," caught up in a good deal more action than they ever bargained for. But what they lack in experience, they make up for in spirit and enthusiasm.
After a 3-season run (2002-2005) on the PAX TV channel,
Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye has recently begun airing in repeats in the afternoons on the Gospel Music Channel. The timing is great, as show star (and deaf actress) Deanne Bray will be seen in the third episode of the new season of
Heroes, which airs a week from tonight.
The
Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye series has an official website,
STFBEye.com, to promote the show. Accompanying that are Twitter and Facebook pages for the show, and for Bray as well. And the recent word at all of these places (since September 9th, actually), is that "
Official DVDs are coming!." Here's a screen capture of the notice currently showing at the program's main website:
The people updating
the show's Twitter account have been keeping a running commentary on some aspects of the progress:
- (12:05 PM Sep 9th) Official DVDs are coming! Watch for an announcement with details to be posted soon!
- (6:04 PM Sep 9th) Phone call w/GMC re: promotion. Writing up copy & pulling together info for promoting DVDs. Busy FBEye day -- love it :)
- (2:46 PM Sep 16th) Off to marketing mtg re: FBEye DVDs - They're coming!
But the TRULY interesting info came from
the FAQ at the show's Facebook fan page, which gives a timeframe: "
Official ‘Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye’ DVDs will be available in mid-October. We will provide ordering information soon." If accurate, this puts the availability of the DVDs at just a few weeks away!
There's no information yet, however, about whether this release will be in stores, or only available online via direct sale, or what. Nor do we know if this will be season sets, or the entire series at once, or single-disc releases, etc. We're waiting for these details, the same as the rest of you. But rest assured that we'll pass it all along as soon as we hear anything. Stay tuned! In the meantime, our gratitude to reader Katrina Willard for passing this along to us, so we could let you know.
