Dr. Dana Stowe (Janine Turner, Northern Exposure, Cliffhanger) is the head of women's medicine at Rittenhouse Hospital and doesn't let her emotions get in the way of her work. Dr. Luisa "Lu" Delgado (Rosa Blasi, Noriega) runs an inner city clinic and does whatever it takes to get her poverty-stricken clients the care they need. When the two women are paired up to run the Rittenhouse Women's Health Center, they must learn to work together even with their respective approaches clearly on opposite sides of the operating table. But can they get past it? From Executive Producers Whoopi Goldberg and Tammi Ader, this long-running Lifetime series contains all 22 first season episodes on a 5 disc DVD set.
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has just announced the first season of
Strong Medicine for releasing on
January 10. The Lifetime network series starred Janine Turner (
Northern Exposure) when it first aired. Turner left the show after a couple of years, and was replaced first with
Home Improvement's Patricia Richardson, and most recently with
Silver Spoons/NYPD Blue alumni Rick Schroder. Schroder and Tamera Mowry (
Sister, Sister) currently star with Rosa Blasi (
The Grudge), the latter of whom has been with the show since it debuted in 2000. Other from-the-start cast includes Jenifer Lewis (
Nora's Hair Salon), Joshua Cox (
Babylon 5) and Philip Casnoff (
North and South).
The set will feature all 22 first-season episodes (982 mins) on 5 discs, and will retail for $49.95 US. Unfortunately that's all the information Sony has released for now, but we'll update this news item if anything more comes in later today (the title will contain *UPDATED* if we add info).
