Early this month we
tipped you off that the Smithsonian Channel was teaming up with Infinity Entertainment to bring home some of their programming on DVD, starting with the
September 23rd release of
Stories from the Vaults - Season 1. Now we've learned that it's not just coming to the DVD format, however: they're bringing this show's first season to hi-def Blu-ray Disc as well!
The Blu-ray version, arriving on the same date, will be presented in 1080i high definition widescreen video, with 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound and English subtitles. By comparison, the DVD format release will be presented in anamorphic widescreen video, with 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound and closed captioning for the hearing impaired. Running time is 189 minutes for a single disc.

The DVD release lists for $24.98, but can be pre-ordered for $21.99 at the time of this writing.
