This past weekend our friends at the
Steve Canyon DVD Blog
posted an update, timed to the 51st anniversary date for the show's popular "Operation: Mushroom" episode! It was terrific news, too:
Steve Canyon - The Complete TV Series, Volume 3 is now available to pre-order via that above link, and it's expected to ship in the
Spring 2010 timeframe (roughly March, but it could still move).
Also, while there was
previous news about the contents of this 2-disc release (the final one, with the remaining episodes of the show's run), the Blog has now provided some additional info about the extras. While nothing is finalized yet, the previously-mentioned "original pilot version of the first episode" (Operation: Towline) will now be accompanied in the bonus material world by audio commentary tracks for every episode (head over to the blog for a list of who some of the participants are), DVD-ROM material such as a screenplay for an unproduced episode, documentaries and more.
Stay tuned for updates on the finalized list of content, as well as final package art. In the meantime, the Blog has provided an early look at the front of the box for
Steve Canyon - The Complete TV Series, Volume 3, another striking cover design by Ms. Johann Mitchell. You can see that below...it's very nice!
If you haven't gotten these DVDs yet, and want to start, then the best place is of course at the beginning. And to make that easier for you, the folks working on these releases on behalf of the Milton Caniff Estate have made
Volume 1 available via Amazon (well, through their "marketplace" sellers program). So if that makes it easier for you to take off on this fabulous classic series, then head on over and drop it into your Amazon cart right away!
