As we've
reported, MGM's direct-to-video release of
Stargate - Continuum is coming to DVD on
July 29th; we've got our first (tiny) look at the possible front cover art on the left (could be subject to change). Today our industry contacts gave us information, which should be publicly announced shortly, that a Blu-ray Disc format edition will be released day-and-date with the DVD!
While the DVD edition runs $26.98 (you can
pre-order it at Amazon for $16.99 as of this writing), the Blu-ray Disc version will list for $39.98 SRP. The same list of extras is included:
- Commentary with Executive Producer/Writer Brad Wright and Director Martin Wood
- Featurette: "The Making of Stargate: Continuum"
- Featurette: "Stargate Goes to The Arctic"
- Featurette: "The Layman's Guide to Time Travel"
The high-definition Blu-ray release includes 1080p video in 1.78:1 widescreen, and an English 5.1 DTS HD Lossless Audio soundtrack. Also included are an optional Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack, French Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack, and subtitles in English, French or Spanish.
This is the second
Stargate release to be available on Blu-ray Disc; in August 2006 Lionsgate released
the original theatrical film starring Kurt Russell and James Spader on Blu-ray, featuring the extended cut of the film.
Stay tuned and we'll have more for you on this, including full-sized final package art for both versions, just as soon as we can!
