Coming up at the end of this month is the San Diego Comic Con, and I was looking over the official schedule earlier this week and I could not help but notice that the
Thursday schedule had an interesting panel listed:
12:30-1:30 Star Trek, The Original Series: As You've Never Seen It-Be here for the worldwide debut of Star Trek, The Original Series, fully remastered and on HD DVD, along with extras including never-before-seen, behind-the-scenes 8mm footage. "Star" panelists include first time-ever Comic-Con attendee Rod Roddenberry, Billy Blackburn (Star Trek, The Original Series extra-extraordinaire), Ryan Adams and David Grant (CBS DVD). and Cory Watson and Jason Hillhouse (New Wave) and more. This isn't new info, in that we've known
since January that CBS/Paramount has been planning a "DVD/HD DVD hybrid" release of
Star Trek: The Original Series - Season 1 before year's end, with the second and third seasons to follow and Blu-ray versions also on the radar. After seeing the Comic Con debut info, though, we asked the studio's marketing people if there was any comment on this, perhaps on a release timeframe? We received no response, however. Stay tuned, though, and we'll keep you updated with additional info as developments occur.
