It was November 2003 when we last posted news about Star Trek: The Original Series coming to DVD in season sets for late 2004. After a long silence, in which Paramount assured us that it was still on track for 2004, but said precious little else, we now have this Star Trek: The Original Series - Season 1 artwork ready for you, straight from the studio:
One reader, Nelson Au, tells the Home Theater Forum that Star Trek Communicator magazine's 150th issue has an article on the history of Trek on home video, from Beta to DVD. He reports that it concludes by saying ST:TOS will be re-issued as Season Box Sets to be released in August. Bear in mind that we haven't read this for ourselves, so we're depending on Nelson's good word on this. Nelson actually posts an appeal to little ol' me to try to confirm the exact release date with the studio. Nelson, I hope that this box art is a good start! Paramount hasn't specified the release date quite yet. Stay tuned, and keep your phasers on standby. We'll inform you at warp speed just as soon as we have the info.
