At the end of last month we brought you
Paramont's press release about the first season of
Star Trek (the original series) coming to HD DVD on
November 20th. It's a premium-priced ($217.99 SRP) set where each disc is a flipper, with HD DVD data on the "A" side and standard DVD data (to work on your existing player) on the flip ("B") side of the disc. Soon after we posted that press release, we updated it with a couple of exterior shots of the packaging for that set. Now we have your very first look at the "exploded" insides of that package, where you see the outer case opened up and all the contents pulled out. Here it is:

It's a bit fuzzy in places, but we still appreciate our friends in the industry who managed to get this picture to us. They tell us it is still officially marked as "artwork not final", so keep in mind that the packaging is subject to change. This collection will begin to hit retailer pre-orders soon, as Paramount is promoting this item as part of their announcement the other day that they are eschewing the Blu-ray format and supporting HD DVD only for now, among hi-def home media.
