Star Trek - Toshiba Offers You to Aim Phasers at HD DVD Players if You Buy Hi-Def Season 1

Buy any HD DVD player AND Star Trek - Season 1 on HD DVD to qualify

As you know, Star Trek - Season 1 arrives on November 20th from CBS/Paramount in a brand-new 10-disc HD DVD and DVD "hybrid" release. This is one of the most recently-announced titles among the 14 TV-on-HD DVD releases that have been released or revealed. Now we've got something interesting to pass along to Trek fans everywhere. Not Earth-shattering or anything, but it's...fascinating.

Christ Tibbey over at trade publication Home Media Magazine has reported online about a number of the hi-def announcements made at this week's CEDIA expo in Denver, by both Sony (Blu-ray Disc camp) and Toshiba (HD DVD camp). Near the bottom, he reports something that will be of interest to anyone who wants the hi-def Star Trek - Season 1 package:
Those who buy both any Toshiba HD DVD player and the “Star Trek” HD DVD series will receive a limited-edition “phaser” remote that works with the player.
Details of the offer were not given, and a call to Toshiba indicates that they are still hammering out the final details on offer redemption, but the opinion was offered that it would likely be fulfilled by mail.

We were curious what the Phaser Remote looked like, and a Google search turned up a pair of pictures among a CEDIA slideshow at CEPro magazine's online site. Here's a cropped view of one of those pics; head over there to see the original pic and another photo of it. The picture over there is clearly labeled "Phaser Remote":
