Since last November, we've
been expecting a
March 7th release of
Star Trek: The Borg Fan Collective. This 4-DVD collection features the Top 10 most popular episodes from
Star Trek: The Next Generation ("ST:TNG"),
Star Trek: Voyager ("ST:VOY") and
Star Trek: Enterprise ("ST:ENT") as picked by the fans in a
survey conducted last Spring.
So far, though, we haven't known what the episode list is for this $42.99 SRP (CA$49.99 in Canada) set. We've finally gotten ahold of that list, and we're pleased to be the very first to share this info with you! As a neat bonus, you'll be glad to see that there are actually the equivalent of 16 hour-long episodes, as 4 of the 10 stories turn out to be 2-parters, and then 2 of the
ST:VOY episodes ("Dark Frontier" and "Endgame") are double-length episodes (our appreciation to reader Cory LaFerriere for reminding us of that). We should all thank Paramount for the added value; they could have counted each hour as "one of the top ten" if they wanted to!
A quick side note: we've received e-mails from some of you in the past few days about how
the Amazon.com listing for this release has disappeared. We are trying to find out what happened to that, but we suspect that this is just a temporary glitch and it will be restored soon.
The listing at the Canadian branch, Amazon.ca, is still intact and we know per the studio that the street date hasn't changed. So this is an Amazon.com issue, and will probably be fixed quickly. All episodes from
ST:TNG and
ST:VOY are full screen 1.33:1, and the episode from
ST:ENT is widescreen 16x9. Sound is English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround, plus English 2.0 Surround (except for
ST:TNG's "Q Who?" and "The Best of Both Worlds, Part I", which are English 2.0 Stereo). There are also English subtitles, plus it is closed captioned for the hearing impaired.
On top of that, there are extras! Look for Audio Commentary by Mike Sussman and Phyllis Strong (both have served as writers, editors and co-producers on various
Star Trek series) on select episodes, and for Text Commentary by Michael and Denise Okuda on select episodes. Here is the episode list:
