In addition to the
Blu-ray Disc news for
Star Trek - Season 1, some addition home video news has appeared on long-range scanners for the
Trek franchise. The latest print edition of
Video Business reports on Page 4 about the high-definition sets of the first "TOS" year, and the first six films. But it also mentions a pair of DVD episode releases for both "TOS" and for "TNG" (these were mentioned as possibilities in the Blu-ray reports at Digital Bits and TrekMovie, but
Video Business has the full details).
According to the story written up by
VB's Laurence Lerman, on
May 12th a standard-definition DVD release of
Star Trek: The Next Generation - The Best Of will arrive with 4 favorite episodes from the 1987 incarnation of the series. On the same date, CBS DVD and Paramount Home Entertainment will also release a single-disc DVD with 4 favorite episodes from the original '60s version of the show, titles
Star Trek - The Best of the Original Series. They will be priced at $14.99 each.
No information about the episodes included on these was provided, nor is there any word about whether there are extras. No box art is available, either. But stay tuned and we'll fill you in on these, just as soon as we can!
