When we first got the press release
for Star Trek: The Animated Series
on DVD, the final words on the release said that this "will be available to own for a suggested retail price of $35.00.
" However, the price jumped a few days afterward, when that press release was revised
to say that it was instead now "a suggested retail price of $62.99.
$35.00? $62.99? Are either of those correct? We're not really sure! Right now Best Buy has TWO separate listings for this release, here
), which both show a $69.99 "our cost" (i.e., after Best Buy's discount) for this item! As Spock would observe, that's illogical.
On the other hand, TVShowsOnDVD's primary affiliate e-tailers, Amazon.com and DVDEmpire.com, both show an SRP of $54.99 on this item. Weird. Which of those are the best to use? Well, DVDEmpire's pre-order
will cost you $43.75 after their discount, while Amazon's pre-sale listing
is only $38.99! Is that good compared to other online retailers? Oh, yeah! That price is more than three dollars better than even the "deep discount" online sellers. So click on that link and order it now...and support TVShowsOnDVD.com in the process, okay? Thanks!
Update: Amazon seems to have removed the set from their site since we posted this news. Yeah....thanks Amazon!
NEW UPDATE (8/16): Amazon has now restored the pre-order listing, and now it's even cheaper...by 50¢! Yep, $38.49 is your cost at the moment, so lock in that price. Click the image below of the Amazon screen, and you'll be taken to their pre-order listing.
