This week's issue of
Home Media Magazine has a full-page ad on the inside cover of the trade publication, informing retailers about Nickelodeon's plans to celebrate 10 years of
SpongeBob SquarePants with several notable DVD releases. One of these was announced early last week by distributor Paramount Home Entertainment, and we've already
reported about it: the
July 21st title
SpongeBob SquarePants - To SquarePants or Not to SquarePants; see that story for all the details.
A similar single-disc release is scheduled for
November 10th, when release the 88-minute DVD
SpongeBob SquarePants - Truth or Square. Like "
To SquarePants or Not to SquarePants," this item is priced at $16.99 SRP. And, like all the releases mentioned in this story, it's closed captioned for the hearing impaired. No other details about that title were revealed in the trade ad.
The BIG news, however, is the ad's "announcement" of
SpongeBob SquarePants - The First 100 Episodes. This collection of every cartoon from the show's first 5 seasons will run approx. 2200 minutes long. It also includes a bonus disc, approximately an hour long, that is exclusive to this collection. Some of the extras on this set include audio commentary tracks on select episodes, an exclusive animated art gallery, and an original song that is set to clips taken from the series.
We also tentatively expect supplemental material from
the previously-released season sets to be included as well, but that hasn't been confirmed yet. The cost will be $99.99 SRP, and it will be available on
September 22nd. Packaging isn't available yet, but below we have a scan of the trade ad which appears in the current issue of
HMM, and beneath that are close-ups of the portions of the ad for
The First 100 Episodes and
Truth or Square. Stay tuned for updates!
