Amazon has added
a pre-order listing for a
November 4th DVD release of
Spin City - Season 1. The studio listed there is "Uni Dist Corp (Music)", but we have learned that they are distributing this for Shout! Factory. There is very little information available so far, but Amazon shows a $19.99 list price (they are currently discounting it to just $13.99, but that could change without notice). That price seems REALLY low for a first season that consisted of 24 episodes, so we're trying to check into it and we'll follow up as soon as we can.
Besides Fox (
Family Ties, Back to the Future films), the series cast also included Barry Bostwick (
The Rocky Horror Picture Show), Richard Kind (
Mad About You) and Alan Ruck (
Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Star Trek: Generations, Twister), among others. As longtime fans know, Heather Locklear didn't join the cast until the 4th Season, so she wouldn't appear in these episodes. Guest cast in the first season, though, includes Nathan Fillion (in a very small, uncredited role), George Wendt, Woody Harrelson, Jennifer Garner, Edward Koch (yes, the former New York Mayor), Courtney Thorne-Smith, Luke Perry, Larry King, Patrick Ewing, Frank Gifford, Dan Dierdorf, Al Michaels, Rosie O'Donnell, David Letterman, George Stephanopoulos, Amanda Peet, Cynthia Watros, Marlee Matlin, J.K. Simmons, Daphne Zuniga and Isaac Mizrahi.
At such a low cost, is this really the entire first season, with all the episodes inlcuding all those guest stars? Well, Universal released
a pair of best-of discs back in 2003, so hopefully fans do indeed get complete season sets this time. Stay tuned and we'll keep you updated!
