This past Monday, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (formerly Columbia/Tristar)
announced the release of
Spider-Man: The New Animated Series - Volume 4: Extreme Threat. This continues the line of single-disc releases for the first season of the 2003 MTV series (
the first three volumes were released this past June).
Scheduled for a
January 25th release, this 3-episode disc runs 64 minutes and lists for $14.94 SRP. Here are the episodes included:
- "Royal Scam"
- "Heroes and Villains"
- "Flash Memory"
When that fourth 1-Disc release hits shelves, there will have been 12 episodes from the 1st Season on them, leaving only the middle episode, "Head Over Heels", off. It can be found, of course (along with every other first-season episode), on the
Season 1 Special Edition package that was released in January 2004. That 2-disc set is still in many stores if you look around (it's currently in-stock at
Amazon,
DVDEmpire, and
DVDPlanet at the time of this writing).
But Sony, as we've said before, is providing a choice for those consumers who wish to purchase single-disc releases instead. If
Extreme Threat is for you, then you'll be a happy camper come this January. Here's the art you'll be looking for on the cover:
