Recently we
reported about Morningstar Entertainment's upcoming (June 10th) release in Canada of
The Incredible Hulk - When Monsters Meet. This will be their second DVD version of a previously-released-on-VHS title with Marvel superheroes; the first is their May 6th release of
Spider-Man - The Mutant Agenda.
A key difference between those two items is that the Hulk title was part of the old Prism Video
"Marvel Comics Video Library", the 5th title in that old VHS line-up of cartoons featuring episodes from old animated series featuring Marvel super-heroes. Now Morningstar has given us word to expect 8 further DVD releases adapted from that old VHS lineup!
One of the titles will be the 10th volume from that videotape series:
Doctor Octopus. It contains two cartoons from the 1967 version of
Spider-Man called "The Power of Doctor Octopus" and "Sub-Zero for Spidey." The DVD release, like the VHS version, will have bonus episodes.
Spider-Man - Doctor Octopus is one of the rare ones where the bonus episodes are actually from the same series, instead of a different show. the two bonus cartoons will be "The Terrible Triumph of Doctor Octopus" and "Magic Malice."
In addition, many other releases in this DVD line-up will feature bonus cartoons from the mega-classic 1967 "friendly neighborhood"
Spider-Man series.
The Incredible Hulk - When Monsters Meet includes "One-Eyed Idol" and "Fifth Avenue Phantom."
Spider-Woman - Spider-Woman And The Fly will have "The Slippery Dr. Von Schlick" and "The Spider and the Fly."
The New Fantastic Four - The Impossible Man will team with "Spider-Man Meets Dr. Noah Boddy" and "The Fabulous Fakir."
Spider-Man - The Vulture, from the '81 version of the show, will contain two bonus cartoons from the 1967 edition of
Spider-Man: "The Vulture's Prey" and "The Dark Terrors."
The Marvel Superheroes - Thor: Enter Hercules DVD will have "Neptune's Nose Cone" as a bonus. And, finally,
The Marvel Superheroes - The Mighty Thor DVD will include "Spider-Man Meets Skyboy" as a bonus. Whew!
Don't forget, these are all aimed for sale at Canadian retailers, but will work in any standard DVD player in the USA if you import it. The cost, like on the previously announced
Spider-Man and
Hulk DVDs, is expected to be CA$14.98 SRP. A release date for these upcoming releases has not yet been announced, but stay tuned and we'll provide it, and finalized full-sized art, as soon as we can.
