We
reported more than a week ago that the
March 14th release of
Speed Racer - Volume 4 will only have 8 episodes on it, instead of the sixteen episodes we all hoped for which would finish off the series' DVD run. In our report, we editorialized about how we hoped Lionsgate would at least include some extras on this release, and pointed out where some ready-made bonus material was sitting around waiting to be used. Apparently our hopes were in vain.
Lionsgate has sent out the rear cover art for
Speed Racer - Season 4, and it confirms what our industry sources have said: 8 episodes (the exact ones we listed over a week ago), the Mach-5 die-cast toy car
which we showed you the other day...and that's it. No extras. $22.98 SRP. Like our friend Bill Hunt over at
The Digital Bits, we're pretty frustrated and disappointed by this strategy.
