Speed Racer: The Next Generation - Extras, Specs for Speed: TNG - The Beginning DVD

Last week we reported about Lionsgate's plans for their May 6th DVD debut of Speed Racer: The Next Generation - The Beginning. That's just 4 days after the show begins airing as part of the NickToons lineup, and 3 days before the new live-action Wachowski Brothers-produced film begins running in theaters.

Now Lionsgate has delivered more details about this release, including their formal description, the specs, and the extras found on this release. Hi-res artwork still isn't in yet, but to the left is their thumbnail picture of the cover. The details follow:

Grab the wheel as you steer your way into the future of action with SPEED RACER THE NEXT GENERATION: THE BEGINNING. The movie sets up the new TV series "Speed Racer The Next Generation." When Speed, a hotshot orphan, enters the elite Racing Academy, he gears up for a series of futuristic adventures that unite the classic fun of the original Speed Racer and the out-of-this-world excitement of virtual racing. Pulse-pounding trouble follows at every turn as Speed uncovers the secrets of his identity. Not only is the legendary Speed Racer his father, but also his top competition, the mysterious racer X, is his brother!

Speed also finds the top secret plans for his superslick racing car the Mach 6, but the evil millionaire, Zile Zazic, will do everything in his power to stop Speed from crossing the finish line and revealing that the Mach 6 burns rubber with a gasless engine. With the help of his crew, Lucy, Conor, and Chim Chim the Robot, Speed will have to do more than just outrun Zile - he'll have to master cutting-edge techno-racing in this adrenaline-pumping thrill ride with the new Speed and his crew!
