Based on the critically-acclaimed film of the same name, SOUL FOOD -THE SERIES reunites the Joseph family in an hour-long drama series, which chronicles the lives of a tight-knit African American family living in Chicago. The series explores, in an honest and touching way, the relationship between three sisters, the men in their lives and their children. The Joseph family faces everyday struggles to which all families can relate. SOUL FOOD is not your typical family...it is simply the drama of a family.
Soul Food - The Complete 3rd Season comes to DVD on
February 5th in a 4-disc set running 16 hours and 34 minutes. The info we received says this is 20 episodes, which the running time seems to agree with. However, most online episode guides, including those at the Internet Movie DataBase (IMDB.com) and TV.com, seem to agree that the "Third Season" consisted of 10 episodes run from June to August of 2002. The same episodes show a "Fourth Season" of 10 episodes running from April to June of 2003.
Perhaps the studio is officially considering these all to be a single season? We're not sure, but the first two seasons consist of twenty episodes each, and the final season is fourteen episodes. Most online sources show this as a "5-Season" program, but the studio seems to be indicating this is "four seasons" instead. We'll try to find out more from CBS/Paramount Home Entertainment, so stay tuned for updates...and for box art as well!
