A story in
USA Today on Monday, which is full of spoilers about the final episode of The Sopranos (so
read it at your own risk), says that the "
Season 6, Part 2" DVD box set will hit stores sometime in
October. That's not necessarily official info, and no studio sources were quoted, so take it with a grain of salt at the moment.
Also, the article states that "
no alternate endings were shot, so none will appear on the DVD in October". However, it's easy to find other stories posted (such as the end of
another spoiler-filled article at The New York Post) which claim that some form of alternate "ending" scenes WERE shot. However, in the next breath the
story quotes an HBO rep that repeats the October timeframe, but re-affirms the official line that there will be no alternate footage on the DVDs.
Just another reason to treat the whole thing as a rumor, at least for now. We'll keep you posted on developments, so stay tuned! Our thanks to readers Frank Longobardo and Jeff Giannantoni for singing like birds to us about this.
