It's been a month since we
first told you that Amazon.com was taking pre-orders for
Sons of Anarchy - Season 1 on both
DVD and
Blu-ray Disc formats. Last week we showed off the package art (seen again below) for both versions, too...all before Fox Home Entertainment had formally set a release date, or announced the title! This morning, however, Fox has officially told retailers that these releases are on their schedule.
The street date for both formats is
August 18th. The DVD release ($49.98 USA, CA$69.98 CAN) comes on 4 discs, with anamorphic widescreen video, English Dolby Surround Sound and subtitles in English, French and Spanish. The high-def Blu-ray Disc ($59.99 USA, CA$89.99 CAN) comes on 3 discs, with 1080p widescreen video, English 5.1 DTS HD Master Audio, Spanish Dolby Surround, and English and Spanish subtitles. Running time is 578 minutes for 13 episodes starring Charlie Hunnam, Ron Perlman, Katey Sagal, and Kim Coates, and featuring recurring appearances by Drea de Matteo and Mitch Pileggi.
The Blu-ray Disc version will come with Commentaries on Selected Episodes, a Making-of Featurette titled "Head out on the Highway," four other Featurettes titled "Counter Culture Icons, "Tats Incredible," "Easy Riders" and "Makin' the Grade", plus Deleted Scenes and a Gag Reel. The making-of featurette is known to be included on the DVD version; none of the other extras have been confirmed for the standard-def format release at this time.
