Cher's website (www.cher.com) has reported in their news section since last fall that "there are...plans for the release on video and DVD early next year of some of the Sonny & Cher TV shows."
Well, it's "next year" now, and DVDFile (www.dvdfile.com) reports this morning that plans are shaping up. "The Sonny & Cher Collection" is being brought to us by Respond2, the same folks responsible for the awesome DVD release of "The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson". As with the Carson release, plans are to market this via infomercial and sell it directly to the consumers. It will NOT be in retail stores. Sonny & Cher won't even be available at Internet e-tailers such as Amazon, at least not initially.
DVDFile describes the 3-disc set this way: "Culled from both The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour and The Sonny & Cher Show, the box set will include over seven hours of the best episodes from the pioneering duo".
The price will be $49.95, and it will go on sale starting April 14, 2003. Just as soon as Respond2 gets out official information or puts together a website for this release, we will let you know.
