Hey, this is one of those things that should have been obvious to us, but we simply overlooked it. In December, when Warner Home Video
first announced the DVD whose title became
The Smurfs - Volume 1: True Blue Friends, the release date given was February 17th...a date which was still in effect later that month when we
posted an update. In January, though, Warner provided a formal
press release that mentioned a different date...but we didn't really notice it, because the info at the studio's password-protected press and retailer site still showed 2/17.
Yesterday, though, an Amazon notice was sent out advising customers that the street date for this title had moved from February 17th to
March 3rd. Sure enough, that's the different date (that we hadn't noticed) in the studio's press release. Checking with some of our industry friends, the studio notice of the change didn't go out to many retailers until this week, which is probably why the entire thing was under-the-radar over here. Our thanks to everyone who helped us figure out about this two-week delay!
