Well, this is it, the final season of
Get Smart. These episodes are a bit shorter than previous seasons because they don't have the episode promo that appeared before the episode (in the early syndication run). Thanks to Carl Birkmeyer from
WouldYouBelieve.com for that information.
Paul Brownstein did an amazing job producing this DVD set. He's produced my favorite classic TV sets, including
The Twilight Zone, and
The Dick Van Dyke Show, and he's done another fabulous job finding material for this set. Paul also had a lot of help from Sue Kessler, Carl Birkmeyer, and many others. Everyone involved in this DVD set should be very, very proud of it. If you haven't already ordered the set (and I can't imagine why you wouldn't have), then head over to Time-Life's website and place your order. The complete series will begin shipping on Wednesday, and can only be
ordered directly from Time-Life for $199.96.
I've had a few people email me to ask when the set will be released in stores. Time-Life has an exclusive for 1 year, so sets will appear at retail after then. What's not clear is how HBO plans to release the series. They could decide to do one season at a time, and if they released a season every 3 months then we'd see season 5 released in November, 2008 - two years from now! Of course that's just a guess on my part, but it's possible.
