We've been receiving a number of frustrated emails from Canadians who are unable to order the
Get Smart box set. The TimeLife.com site will only ship to the US, and the TimeLife.ca website doesn't list the set. We've spoken to Time-Life about this a number of times, and we've been assured that it
will be up for sale on the TimeLife.ca site, it's just taking a bit longer than they had hoped. Time-Life has the home video rights in Canada, so it wouldn't make sense for them to sit on this and not sell the set. So, for my frustated fellow Canadians, just hold on a little bit longer and should be up there for sale.
We also have some good news for people that are planning on buying the box set - there's more extras! Time-Life, and Paul Brownstein (the DVD producer), have just received permission to include 10 more commercial spots featuring Don Adams as Maxwell Smart. They include:
- Pepsodent commercial, 1967 (This spot features Don as Agent 86 and Dave Ketchum as Agent 13)
- PSA For The American Association of Diabetes Educators, 1995 (Don plays Max and Bernie Kopell plays Siegfried. Also includes behind-the-scenes footage)
- White Castle commercial, 1990 (Don plays a hamburger-hawking super sluth. A storyboard of the commercial follows the spot)
- Chief Auto Parts commercial, 1983 (Don parodies his Agent 86 character)
- Chief Auto Parts Commercials 1981 and 1983 (These spots have Don reprising his Maxwell Smart character and famous Get Smart catchphrases)
- White Castle Commercial #1 1990, (Holy Cow! Don appears as "Cowboy Don" for this spot)
- White Castle Commercial #2 1990, (Don appears as "Ninja Don" with the "Mother of all Onions")
- Choice Hotels Commercial 1991, (Don is unpacked from multiple suitcases for this spot)
- Buck-A-Call Commercial, 1999 (Don appears as retired Secret Agent 86)
If you haven't ordered the set (5 seasons for $199.96), then
