With
Smallville's 5th broadcast year winding through its last half-season's worth of episodes, Warner Home Video is apparently already making their plans for the DVD release of this year's crop of super stories. What info we have is very thin, and no real surprise at all, but many of you will probably be reassured to hear it nonetheless. And, truth be told, it's a slow news day here at TVShowsOnDVD.
The Vengeance Chronicles is a series of "webisodes" that you'll find
at the official show website (look in the upper right). One of our readers, Cathy Moy, wrote to us the other day and pointed out that on a couple of these webisodes (which may contain spoilers to the current season, so if you haven't been watching the broadcasts you probably want to hold off watching these for now) the end of the webisode has this screen on it:
So clearly the webisodes will appear as extras on the DVDs (not a surprise, as they did this with "The Chloe Chronicles" webisodes on the 2nd and 3rd season DVD sets), and we can all expect
Smallville - The Complete 5th Season to hit DVD in the
Fall 2006 timeframe. Again, no surprise since they'll have that out in time to promote the next season's broadcast debut.
Don't forget that the sixth season of
Smallville is likely to appear on the new "CW Network," the result of
The WB merging with UPN. That won't affect DVD releases, though, because Warner Brothers is still the studio producing the series, no matter which network it airs on. Stay tuned and we'll bring you more information about the 5th DVD season set of
