In just a couple of days we'll see the thrilling year-end episode, broadcast on The CW...but it won't be a long wait before Warner Home Video announces the home video release for
Smallville - The Complete 7th Season. And, even though the studio hasn't made it official yet, super e-tailer Amazon.com is already taking pre-orders for both the
DVD and the
Blu-ray Disc versions of this season set!
Since these aren't formally announced yet, the info at Amazon is limited. There's no street date, for example...nor any other details there except for the list prices. Still, the say "You may pre-order it now and we will deliver it to you when it arrives." Amazon shows the DVD as going for $59.98 SRP (currently discounted to $53.99), and the Blu-ray Disc for $79.98 SRP (currently discounted to $55.95; if either price goes lower, then Amazon will automatically adjust your cost to the cheaper price). That includes all 20 hour-long episodes, including the introduction of Laura Vandervoort as cousin Kara (a.k.a. "Supergirl").
On the other hand, last month we
let you know that the usual work on bonus materials for this set had been underway, including commentary tracks recorded by cast and crew (notable because there extras on Season 6 did not include commentaries).
To top it off, a few weeks back our friends at Kryptonsite.com had
posted possible package art for the 7th Season DVDs, noting that it was not necessarily final and could be subject to change. We've tried, without success, to get the studio to confirm whether this is the final artwork for North America, so please take it with a grain of salt until Warner makes it official.
Our thanks to all of the readers who took time and e-mailed us, to make sure we were aware of these various items. Stay tuned and we'll provide updates to you as soon as the studio sends out the for-sure info!
