Have you seen Showtime's
Sleeper Cell yet? Of course not...it doesn't debut until tomorrow night. But we've already got news about
Sleeper Cell - The Complete 1st Season on DVD, believe it or not! After a 2-week long blitz starting tomorrow in which all 9 episodes (including the double-length season finale) will air in short order, fans will be able to own this on DVD as soon as
March 14th.
Sleeper Cell stars Michael Ealy (
Barbershop, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Barbershop 2) as Darwyn Al-Sayeed, an FBI agent who goes undercover in prison under a slightly different surname, Darwyn Al-Hakeem. With contacts made there, he is able to locate and become a part of a sleeper cell of terrorists in Los Angeles, who plan to attack the city. But is Darwyn - already a practicing Muslim - actually infiltrating the group, or is he being seduced by its cause? Oded Fehr (
The Mummy, The Mummy Returns) co-stars as Faris Al-Farik, the charismatic but deadly leader of the cell, who poses as a Jewish-American named "Yossi"...and who works for a security company in L.A.! Blake Shields (
Carnivale) is "Tommy Emerson," another member of the cell whose upbringing - combined with Farik's powers of persuasion - have convinced him that he is doing the right thing by striking out at America. Alex Nesic plays "Christian Aumont," a Frenchman who was a member of the Skinheads in his own country, before switching his cause to that of the Islamic extremists. Henri Lubatti (
Felicity, 24) plays "Ilija," a Bosnian who is Farik's right-hand man. Melissa Sagemiller plays Darwyn's girlfriend, "Gayle Bishop," who's not sure what their future will be as she waits for events to play out. And James LeGros (
Ally McBeal) is "Special Agent Ray Fuller," Darwyn's FBI supervisor...AND his close personal friend.
This DVD set will have several extras, including behind-the-scenes stuff with a focus on the making of the season finale. Filmographies of the show's principle cast will also be there, as well as the inclusion of the Podcast Commentaries which the show's Executive Producers, Ethan Reiff & Cyrus Voris, will be doing throughout the broadcast of the series on Showtime. SRP for all of this is just $34.99...but
DVDEmpire.com already has it for pre-order at a $25.99 price!
Remember, this is early information and is subject to change. As is the cover art below, which is really early and basically reflects the ad campaign for the show. We're sure that it will change at least a little bit before this set ships. Wondering if this show is for you? We recommend at least giving it a look, based on all of the good buzz we've heard. If you want more info, and don't mind a few minor spoilers, then
read CNN's story about the series, and what the goals are of the people putting the show together. Here's that art:
