Site News - Lawyers, Teachers and Cops - Fox looks at David E. Kelley shows for DVD release

Posted by Gord Lacey
We just posted a separate news story on the arrival of Boston Legal on DVD this May, but Fox is looking at releasing other David E. Kelley shows as well. Kelley, a former Boston lawyer, wrote a script in the early 80s which became a movie (From the Hip), and got him noticed by Stephen Bochco. Bochco was putting together L.A. Law, and hired Kelley as a story editor. A few years later Kelley was the Executive Producer of the series, and well on his way to conquering Hollywood. Since then he's represented both his former city (Boston), and former profession (Lawyer) quite well, often combing the two into successful shows (Ally McBeal, The Practice, and Boston Legal).

Fox has expressed interest in many of the David E. Kelley shows, but right now they're looking at:
  • Boston Legal (should be out in May)
  • Ally McBeal
  • Picket Fences
  • Boston Public
  • The Practice
  • L.A. Law
None of these have been announced, and there's the possibility that some of them won't be released. Those are titles that Fox is considering releasing (in the next two years...who knows). If you're interested in owning some of those shows and you haven't voted for them on the site then you really should; Fox is one of the studios that checks the voting stats on the site quite regularly, and the voting numbers can help get a show on DVD.
